GIFTS FOR NEW FLOORING

The carpet in the Narthex and Window Room has served its purpose for 34 years. Cleaning no longer removes the stains and once cleaned the stains return quickly. It needs replaced with an easy to maintain flooring, one that will withstand spill coffee, tea, lemonade and punch. The HUMC Foundation offered a matching grant of $7,500. The congregation now needs to raise $7,500 to match this commitment.

Please prayerfully consider making a gift to the church to replace the flooring. One suggestion is to make of a donation based on your birthday number this year. Perhaps an anniversary donation.
Donations can be placed in the offering plate or the bright flowery box in the Narthex. Please mark your donation “Flooring Gift.” Thank you in advance for prayerfully considering a donation.

FACE TO FACE—THE UPPER ROOM
UNITED METHODIST SENIOR RETREAT EXPERIENCE

Face to Face is a program of the Upper Room, Discipleship Ministries of the United Methodist Church.  It is a time of spiritual renewal for Seniors.  It is a time when you encounter Jesus, Face to Face.  A time to share in fellowship with other Seniors seeking to know God more fully.  We share in worship opportunities for Christian learning as well as fun, food and fellowship with other Christians while experiencing an abundance of God’s love and grace.

First Church San Diego is hosting the Encounter.  We will meet each day from 9 AM until 3:30 PM September 7,8,14,15 in Linder Lounge.  Participants, called Pilgrims, are expected to attend all four days.  Cost is $50 which includes lunch and refreshments. If help is needed, scholarships are available, just note that on the application.

This Sunday is the last Sunday for coin donations for the fountain. Our jar will be saved for another project.

The Trustees will soon begin the work of restoring the fountain to its original beauty.

Thank you all for your support. Donations are still welcome, mark your donation “Fountain.”
